OpenAI’s Sora Is Ready For Takeoff

Remember when OpenAI teased Sora in February and everyone lost their minds? Well friends, the day has finally come.

Yesterday, OpenAI released the viral text-to-video model to the public as part of their “12 days of Shipmas” Campaign.

But what can it do???

• OpenAI developed Sora Turbo - a faster, more capable version of the original model. Sora has been shipped as a standalone product.

• Sora Turbo allows users to generate 1080p videos up to 20 seconds long in various aspect ratios, remix assets, and use a storyboard tool for frame-by-frame precision.

• Video generation through Sora is included in ChatGPT Plus and Pro plans; users can explore up to 50 videos monthly at 480p, with Pro plans offering higher resolutions, longer durations, and expanded usage.

So What?

While we're not quite at "replace Hollywood" level, Sora opens up some interesting possibilities. Think snazzy video intros, living wallpapers, or bringing your static images to life.

Just don't expect to get in right away – there’s more traffic on that website than on 5th Avenue in December. I've been trying to access it myself, but apparently, everyone else had the same idea.
