Coming Soon to Your Feed: Meta’s AI Influencers

Image from: Bloomberg

Meta plans to unleash AI-generated profiles across its suite of applications to boost engagement among its nearly 3 billion users.

These AI personas will have bios and profile pictures (like the most of us, I’d hope), and they’re going to generate content to add to the AI slop that’s already out there on the internet.

But Why?

So What?

Welcome to Social Media 2.0, where your next viral trend might be started by an AI having its main character moment.

As this digital experiment unfolds, we're all going to learn what happens when you let algorithms join the group chat.

Spoiler alert: it's going to be... interesting.

Hey Google, Watch Me Code

Real-time AI just got…real.

Google’s Stream Realtime is easily the most useful feature in the new Gemini 2.0 release, enabling users to interact with the model through dynamic vision processing, real-time voice conversations, or both combined.

Through the Multimodal Live API, we can create applications where users interact with AI in a way that feels more human than ever.

I took it for a live spin to demonstrate these capabilities as my new pair programmer!

To use Stream Realtime as your new pair programmer (or anything, really):

  1. Navigate to Google AI Studio and sign in.

  2. On the left sidebar, go to the microphone icon, that represents Stream Realtime.

  3. There, you can share your screen with Gemini, select the window you want to share.

  4. Talk to Gemini as if it were right over your shoulder!

Command Line Magic with Cline

Meet Cline, an AI that can use your CLI aNd Editor.

Cline is an AI-powered coding assistant for Visual Studio Code that enhances your development workflow by automating tasks such as code generation, editing, and execution.

Thanks to Claude 3.5 Sonnet's agentic coding capabilities, Cline can handle complex software development tasks step-by-step. With tools that let it create & edit files, explore large projects, use the browser, and execute terminal commands, it can assist you in ways that go beyond code completion or tech support (talk about full stack).

Here’s how you can begin using it:

  1. Download and Install VS Code if you haven’t already.

  2. Install the Cline extension in VS Code - search for it in the extensions marketplace and install it.

  3. After installation, open the Cline extension on the left. Set up the API provider, enter your API key, and select the LLM you’ll be using to power it.

  4. You’re ready to rock! Try out code generation, executing terminal commands, and using browser integration.
