Microsoft has announced Wave 2 of its Copilot integration, bringing a suite of new features and enhancements across its productivity suite. This rollout unveils deeper AI integration into Microsoft 365, expanding the capabilities of tools like Word, Excel, and more with functionalities designed to boost productivity and streamline workflows.

Key highlights from the second wave:

  • Copilot Pages: Allows users to create dynamic, web-like documents within Microsoft 365 applications.

  • Python in Excel: Enhances data analysis by enabling Python directly within spreadsheets.

  • Copilot Agents: Automates tasks like drafting emails and summarizing documents.

  • Sharepoint: Copilot in SharePoint helps site creators author pages and create stunning sites, using AI and natural language.

So What?

Microsoft Copilot’s Wave 2 introduces significant enhancements that have the potential to redefine how we interact with productivity software. Compared to its previous iteration, we are seeing way more useful features from Pages all the way to Agents. For businesses and individuals, this means more powerful tools right at their fingertips…

Tool Spotlight

Google’s NotebookLM Can Help You Create Your Next Podcast

Tired of reading? Spin up a podcast about it instead!

NotebookLM is an AI tool Google released over the summer that allows you upload documents and chat with them in a seamless fashion.

Last week, Google released ā€œAudio Overviewā€ in this tool, a new feature that converts your documents into engaging audio discussions. With a single click, two AI hosts create a dynamic conversation based on your content, summarizing and making connections between topics. Users can also download the conversation for on-the-go listening.

This had my mind literally blown; the podcast I was able to generate about a paper I wrote was so good that I’m listening to it as I bust out this newsletter…

It is repetitive, but the AI-generated audio is still impressive. Two people were riffing about my paper on a 12 minute podcast that only took a few minutes to spin up! You can check that out here if you’re curious šŸ˜, but…

Here’s how you can get started yourself:

  1. Navigate to NotebookLM.

  2. Create a new notebook.

  3. Add at least one (text) source.

  4. In the Notebook Guide, click on Generate under Audio Overview.

šŸ”„ Pro Tip: You can share the generated podcast with your friends later via Google Drive!

Groq and Aramco Join Forces to Build a Massive AI Data Center

Image from: Arab News

AI startup Groq Inc. has partnered with oil producer Aramco to build a data center in Saudi Arabia. The goal is to create a hub for companies running AI systems across the Middle East, Africa, and India to enhance AI infrastructure across the region.

  • Groq aims to build the data center in Saudi Arabia to leverage the country’s low energy costs, ample land availability, and strategic location. This position offers access to a vast market of 4 billion people within a 100-millisecond data transfer range.

  • CEO Jonathan Ross has stated this will cost in the ā€œorder of nine-figuresā€ and is bullish about this partnership.

So What?

Saudi Arabia aims to become a hub for technology industries like AI as part of its efforts to modernize its economy and diversify income sources beyond oil. The world’s ā€œlargest inferencing centerā€ will start with 19,000 language processing units and will eventually scale to 200,000.

AI Visualized

NN-SVG Let’s You Visualize Full Neural Networks

My Neural Network :)

NN-SVG is a tool to generate neural network diagrams with ease.

It supports various network types, including Fully-Connected Neural Networks (FCNNs), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), and Deep Neural Networks, offering customization options for size, color, and layout, and allowing easy export to SVG for use in academic papers or web pages.

Why is this useful?

Creating illustrations of neural network architectures is often a time-consuming task for machine learning researchers, and a tool like this is great to conceptualize the inner workings of a neural network.

This is also really good for beginners to get a grip on what happens during a forward and backward pass. Check out the repo here!
