Chip Happens – OpenAI Seeks Silicon Independence
+ Use ChatGPT's Newest Features 💡

A lot of OpenAI in this one, they’re going crazy with new ambitions AND new features…
In this edition we’ll be covering…
OpenAI’s foray into silicon?
How to use the latest features in ChatGPT
Multi-model support from GitHub Copilot
And much more…
Let’s get into it!
Forget NVIDIA, OpenAI Hardware Is Coming Soon
OpenAI is making power moves in the chip game, partnering with Broadcom and TSMC to develop its own AI processors.
While they initially flirted with the idea of building their own chip foundry (the ultimate silicon independence), they've opted for a more practical approach through strategic partnerships. The goal? Scaling their compute to run workloads on in the short term, but probably full independence from NVIDIA in the long term...
Okay and…
OpenAI aims to cut operational costs and secure more control over its infrastructure.
The custom AI chips are expected to power OpenAI models starting in 2026.
The Bigger Picture
This isn't just about OpenAI cutting costs – it's about reshaping the AI landscape.
If OpenAI eventually masters both cutting-edge AI and the hardware it runs on, they'd be positioning themselves as a one-stop powerhouse that could give tech giants some serious competition in multiple domains besides just AI.

How to Use the Newest ChatGPT Features on Desktop and Web
Big day for desktops.
Advanced Voice is now available in the macOS and Windows desktop apps.

Here’s the rundown, some major upgrades hit ChatGPT (seemingly overnight), and they’re long overdue. First, ChatGPT Web now lets users search through their chat history, sparing everyone from endless scrolling.
Second, Advanced Voice Mode finally arrived on the desktop app, making it even more powerful.
Oh, and there’s now an early version of the Windows app!
Honestly, I’m surprised these features didn’t drop sooner. Here’s how to start using them:
Search Chat History on ChatGPT
Navigate to ChatGPT (https://chatgpt.com/).
Click the 🔍️ icon on the top left.
Search away!

Activate Advanced Voice Mode on Desktop
Download the desktop app (it’s available for Mac fully).
If you already have it, ensure you’re on the latest version by going to Top Bar → ChatGPT → Check for Updates.
Once you have the latest version, you will now see the “wave” icon on the bottom right next to the chat window! You may have to quit the application for it to refresh.

🔥 Pro tip: Use the shortcut “Option + Space Bar” on Mac to quickly bring up ChatGPT anywhere. Highlight text or take screenshots directly for ChatGPT to analyze without breaking your flow!
GitHub Copilot’s Refresh Shows Us “Tabbing” is the Future
GitHub Copilot is expanding its AI brain trust, adding Claude 3.5 and Gemini 1.5 Pro alongside OpenAI's models to its coding assistant lineup. But that's just the beginning – GitHub's also launching Spark, a tool that lets anyone create web apps using plain English (bolt.new anyone?).
GitHub Spark also brought an interesting vision upon CEO Thomas Dohmke. With features like live previews and app sharing, his master plan is to lower coding barriers and reach 1 billion developers.
So What?
So we know software development is changing forever, but I didn’t think it would happen this soon. With Google reporting 25% of its new code now being AI-generated, GitHub's multi-model approach and Spark initiative signal a future where coding becomes increasingly accessible to everyone.
The future might just look like a few simple gestures: prompt, tab, prompt, tab again.

Your Recruiting Team is Getting a Refresh 👀
LinkedIn is stepping into the AI Agents ring and it's targeting the platform's VIP users: recruiters. Aptly named "Hiring Assistant," this AI tool for recruitment is already turning heads at companies like AMD, Canva, and Siemens.
So what’s in the toolbox?
Tailored Job Listings: Recruiters can upload job descriptions or reference similar postings to create customized job requirements and candidate pipelines.
Skill-Based Search: Algorithms focus on relevant skills rather than traditional indicators like location or education, streamlining the search for talent.
Third-Party Integration: The Hiring Assistant integrates with external applicant tracking systems while leveraging LinkedIn’s vast network data of 1 billion users.
With plans to roll out more features and expand access beyond their "select group" of enterprise customers, LinkedIn is positioning itself at the intersection of AI and recruitment.
