Google Launches AI Futures Fund to Back Startups
Google just announced their latest AI initiative: the AI Futures Fund.
The new fund aims to invest in startups leveraging Google DeepMind’s cutting-edge AI technology.
The plan? Make Google’s AI the backbone of the next generation of breakout companies (and maybe steal some thunder from Microsoft’s OpenAI partnership in the process).
What’s Google Offering?
Cold, hard cash. Google will invest in AI startups from seed to late stage.
Early founders get their hands on Google DeepMind’s models before they hit the market, unlocking capabilities their competitors can only dream about.
Google Cloud credits are part of the package too!
Founders will be able to work alongside Google experts from DeepMind and Google Labs.
So What?
While Google hasn’t disclosed the fund’s total size or the average investment amount, it’s clear this is a strategic play to build an ecosystem around its AI technology.
By empowering startups to integrate with DeepMind models early, Google is effectively setting its tools as the industry standard. It’s the same approach Amazon used with AWS, becoming indispensable infrastructure for countless companies.
And Google’s timing is no accident. The announcement drops just a week before its annual I/O Developer Conference, where major AI updates are expected.
This could be a warm-up act for even bigger announcements on the horizon…

Create Amazing Slides with GPT-4o

Okay, I’ll admit, the above slide was made by ChatGPT and NOT McKinsey…
There’s been no shortage of use-cases coming forth with OpenAI’s new image model, and this is a really good one. Making great slides might actually be easy now!
You can do it too:
Navigate to ChatGPT.
Toggle the GPT-4o model.
Use a prompt similar to: Generate me a professional slide explaining AI adoption in McKinsey style.
🔥 Pro Tip - If you want to get really specific with a style of a slide, you can find an image of a slide and upload it as reference!
Some sample prompts for you to try:
“Generate a business strategy slide with a minimalist design, inspired by McKinsey and BCG. Use clean typography, professional icons, and structured sections for Vision, Mission, and Strategic Goals. Apply a dark blue and white color palette for a corporate feel.”
“Create a data analytics dashboard slide that highlights key metrics like ROI, user growth, and revenue trends. Use bar charts, line graphs, and data cards with clear labels and sleek, modern aesthetics. Opt for a neutral color scheme with accent colors for clarity.”

In other news, I found this spicy diagram floating around, apparently, Microsoft, OpenAI, Windsurf, and Cursor now have quite the tangled web.
Microsoft holds a 49% profit share in OpenAI, which now owns Windsurf ($3B). OpenAI is also an investor in Cursor ($9B), which was forked from VSCode, a Microsoft property.
If this isn’t a modern-day AI family tree, I don’t know what is.
