The Latest in AI
Amazon’s Answer to “What if Alexa Actually Understood Me?”
Amazon just unveiled Alexa+, its next-gen AI assistant powered by generative AI, and it’s smarter, more conversational, and more action-oriented than ever.
Unlike past versions, Alexa+ goes beyond just voice assistance as it’s now able to take action for you. Imagine fully managing your home, planning your schedule, and navigating the web, with just your voice.
That doesn’t seem so far-fetched anymore…
What’s up with Alexa+?
Alexa+ understands half-formed thoughts, casual speech, and complex ideas, making interactions feel more human-like and intuitive.
Experts let Alexa+ orchestrate across thousands of services, from smart home control (Philips Hue, Ring) to reservations (OpenTable) and shopping (Amazon, Whole Foods, Uber Eats).
The new update will be able to browse the internet and complete tasks for you.
Alexa+ costs $19.99/month, but Prime members get it for free.
So What?
With AI assistants evolving fast, Amazon just fired back at major players with Alexa+’s model-agnostic approach—meaning it uses the best AI model for each task in real-time, pulling from Amazon’s own Nova models, Anthropic’s Claude, and others via Bedrock.
If AI-powered personal assistants are the future, Amazon just made its biggest bet yet.
Soon, you'll be explaining to your kids that people used to actually tap on glass screens to get things done.
You absolute caveman.

Google’s New Handy Code Assistant

Google just entered the AI coding assistant race with Gemini Code Assist, a new tool powered by Gemini 2.0 models that helps you write code, review PRs, and navigate codebases, directly in your IDE.
The best part? It’s free for individual users.
How to Set It Up in Visual Studio Code:
Navigate to VSCode, hit Extensions.
Search for the Gemini Code Assist extension in the marketplace and install it.
Open it up on the side pane and sign in with your Google account.
Code, tab, and diff away!
If you’re already deep in the Google ecosystem, this could be a great addition to your dev setup.
